Tampa and Cleveland are the remaining contenders and each one will affect Milwaukee’s World Series prices
The Brewers are in.
The Rays are one game away.
The World Series odds 2026 version is lighter on drama than in past seasons and MLB World Series futures are tighter than usual too, with no logjam at the top and no obvious Word Series betting picks.
That last point is courtesy of the Dodgers, who took their insane payroll and supposedly unbeatable starting rotation back to the West Coast for a long season of wondering where it all went wrong. Some baseball fans are also being treated to a Yankees-free World Series – with their Wild Card exit, they won’t get to hog spotlight or the public handle.
For all bettors looking at MLB Futures, there are still some great bets to be made. Grabbing an earlier number or two now could pay off big in a couple of weeks.
Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers (-175 to win the World Series) had the best record in the majors this season, so it’s not a huge surprise that they’ve already punched their ticket to the Fall Classic.
The surprise is how they completely manhandled the Dodgers in the NLCS to get there. LA’s rotation, especially with the addition of Tarik Skubal at the MLB trade deadline, was supposed to eat innings. They were made for the intensity of the MLB playoffs.
So now they wait. Their pitchers get time to rest their arms. The hitters – and this isn’t always a good thing, as we’ve seen in past World Series – get time to work on small tweaks.
If you’re looking at either the Rays (+185) or Guardians (+1200) to grab a bigger World Series plus-money number, you know that Tampa Bay has the pitching to challenge Milwaukee, while Cleveland needs to pull off another escape act before it can start thinking seriously about the matchup.
What the Brewers bring to whoever makes it from the American League is balance. They bagged 103 regular-season wins and demolished LAD because they aren’t streaky – they just keep coming at you.
They don’t rely on a single formula like scratching out wins moneyball-style or through waves of going yard. Milwaukee finished among the majors’ top five in runs, hits, doubles, walks, batting average and on-base percentage.
That makes them a tough postseason matchup because pitching opponents are higher quality and chances don’t open up as often. The flexibility of their lineup makes the most of rare scoring opportunities. Milwaukee can work counts, collect walks and keep an inning alive long enough for someone farther down the order to deliver.
Jake Bauers, the NLCS MVP, showed off that depth in that 11-pitch epic at-bat against Blake Snell in Game 3. He ended it with a go-ahead homer. The Brewers’ lineup is full of Bauers. Yelich, Contreras, etc. can all step up and they all seem to have the maturity to handle World Series pressure.
The only drawback is that bats can cool off too much with a long delay. Milwaukee will have had 8 days off when they enter Game 1 of the World Series on October 23. The rest vs. rust question is real, and rust is no joke.
No matter if they’re facing the Rays or Cleveland, keep this in mind and factor it in to your Game 1 World Series bets: Across the 12 teams in MLB history that advanced to the World Series from a best-of-seven LCS sweep, the long layoff consistently caused early-series rust. These 12 teams hit a combined .202 and averaged only 2.9 runs in Game 1 of the World Series.
To counter that, the Brewers do have home-field advantage and a rested pitching staff.
Should you care who advances out of the AL? Tampa Bay looks like the more uncomfortable matchup for the Brew Crew. The Rays allowed the fewest walks in baseball and finished second in defensive runs saved. Both those stats work well against that patient Milwaukee lineup.
Grab an MLB World Series futures number you like now if you think the Guardians advance but Milwaukee ultimately takes the title. A Cleveland ALCS win could shorten the odds for the Brewers even more. A Tampa win will level the playing field a lot more.
Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay’s strongest championship argument begins with its rotation.
Drew Rasmussen has been super-clutch in the ALCS so far, and in Game 5 he held Cleveland to one run over seven innings. That makes two starts this postseason where Rasmussen threw for at least seven innings with no more than one run allowed.
Freddy Peralta threw six scoreless innings in Game 2 of the ALCS and allowed just one earned run across his first 10⅔ postseason innings.
Having a team’s starters eat innings helps preserve the bullpen. The longer the Rays-Guardians series goes, the more important that is. Game 1 of the World Series waits for no one. If you’re betting the World Series and want to weight the “tired ‘pen” narrative heavily, think twice. Tampa might be pretty fresh.
Tampa Bay’s regular season already showed us how they can win the World Series. The Rays issued a major-league-low 409 walks. If they finish off the Guardians, keep that in mind as a pitching prop. The Brewers’ bats might take a game or two to heat back up.
On the batting side, Junior Caminero hit 42 regular-season home runs, and Tampa Bay tied for fifth in on-base percentage in the majors. Their lineup won’t strike fear in the Milwaukee rotation but they can fill the bases. Check that again for certain World Series pitching matchups. Having Dustin May on the mound for the Brewers could offer you a solid total bases Over for that game.
Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians are a live longshot to make the World Series, let alone win it.
As we write this though, they’re still alive in the ALCS. And it’s all because of pitching.
Gavin Williams is tossing K’s all playoffs so far. He’s got 33 strikeouts across 16⅔ postseason innings. The Guardians also have relievers capable of protecting leads. Through Thursday, Cade Smith had struck out 13 over nine postseason innings, on top of allowing only two hits and one run. Hunter Gaddis had added six scoreless innings across seven appearances.
That impacts your First 5 bets if the Guardians advance.
Basically, with a beatable Brewers pitcher on the mound, taking Milwaukee for the First 5 but then taking the Guardians in an underdog bet to win could be the move. We’re not suggesting this for a game where Jacob Misiorowski or Logan Henderson are on the mound, but any of Cleveland’s starters could find themselves in a hole in the early innings and the Guardians’ bullpen could dominate to turn things around late.
