The 2026 Presidents Cup odds tell you that this is the Ryder Cup’s weaker sibling.
When it heads to Medinah Country Club’s Course No. 3 from Sept. 24-27, it’s all Team USA betting. The Americans are going for their 11th straight Presidents Cup win, almost the total opposite to the Ryder Cup, where they’ve played like underdogs every time in the past two decades.
A few sharp International pairings and a hot putting week can make a heavy price look a lot less comfortable though, so it’s important to find the edges for getting solid plus-money Presidents Cup picks.
Team USA Is the Favorite, but Don’t Overpay
Team USA hasn’t moved much from their early betting odds between -400 to -435 to win the Presidents Cup. Same for the International Team sitting in the +375 to +400 range.
The Americans earned that respect. Scottie Scheffler is still in Tiger Woods land as far as dominance across the entire 2026 golf season. He’s #1 in every meaningful category, he finished in second, fourth and fourth in three majors this year, has 3 wins on the PGA Tour, including the Tour Championship recently, and has 13 top-10s. Nuts. And no International Team player comes close.
Scheffler leads a tough lineup that includes Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Russell Henley, Sam Burns and Collin Morikawa – all having elite seasons. Team USA captain Brandt Snedeker also has a deep group of picks to fill out the team, including Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Chris Gotterup.
Scheffler is the obvious player most likely to take over a match, no matter where they play. Morikawa and Henley bring controlled, precise golf that should suit Medinah specifically. Young and Clark bring birdie potential and performance under pressure. Same with Schauffele, Cantlay and Thomas, with the team format experience to handle pressure.
Based on all that, you can believe the Americans will win again but not be so fast to think they’re a good wager at any price. Laying -400 or more means bettors need Team USA to be completely dominant. The Presidents Cup is a 30-match event though, and things like momentum or an off-day for Team USA can shift results for the Internationals fast.
Other bets like team-total markets, winning margin props or live Presidents Cup betting should keep things more interesting and provide a better ROI.
Know the Course: Does Medinah Suit Team USA or the International Team?
Medinah No. 3 can be a beast. It puts players under pressure right off the tee, puts more pressure on approach shots and can punish a loose miss. Standard stuff for major championship-style courses.
The American roster has the ball-strikers to handle it all. Scheffler is as complete as they come from tee to green. Morikawa’s iron play gives him a major advantage on difficult second shots. He’s second on the Tour in SG:Approach to Green. Once they get closer to the hole, it’s the old vet Thomas leading the Tour this season in SG: Around the Green. Schauffele and Cantlay are steady, strategic players who rarely give away holes cheaply.
The International Team does have its all-stars that can win on any given weekend. Hideki Matsuyama, Corey Conners, Adam Scott and Si Woo Kim headline the list. They’re no bombers, but all four are capable of hitting fairways and greens under pressure, and they all have the kind of composed style that can work well in alternate shot.
Ryan Fox and Min Woo Lee add another dimension with more power. Both can create birdie chances with aggressive play, which should matter in four-ball. Don’t fade Tom Kim just for his drama either. He can give the International Team emotion and energy and he can use big moments that make him a natural match-play threat.
For betting on the 2026 Presidents Cup, Medinah sets up in a way that might have you giving extra weight to players who can keep the ball in play and hit quality iron shots. Long driving helps but it can’t cover up sloppy tee shots in foursomes. The team that avoids unnecessary bogeys will have a major edge.
Four-Ball Is Where USA Can Build an Early Lead
There’s no getting around it. Team USA has a massive talent edge overall.
The Presidents Cup event opens with five four-ball matches on Thursday.
This is where the Americans should be dangerous and could put the event out of reach early. If one player makes a mistake, the other can still save the hole. So when you’ve got dominant talent in both golfers against the Internationals, there aren’t many gaps for the ‘dogs to attack.
You might find a better number in Day 1 four-ball betting than on the overall tournament price. Scheffler’s side might have no value betting-wise but go down the list and look for more attractive numbers for some of Team USA’s lesser-known players. They’ll still hold the edge in most matchups.
The International team could pull off a four-ball upset with smart pairings. Matsuyama and Tom Kim could be a strong blend of elite iron play and energy. Conners and Fox could work well if Conners handles the precision side while Fox provides more attacking firepower.
The best betting approach for the pre-weekend action is to wait for the Thursday pairings before you commit to individual matches. The big edge, outside of raw talent, is to see who built the better pairing for the specific four-ball format.
Best Bets and Player Props: Foursomes are the International Team’s Best Opportunity
Friday’s foursomes matches, also known as alternate shot, could be where the International Team gives you the best value.
One bad tee shot can lead to a lost hole, and there is no partner playing a separate ball to bail you out. That makes foursomes the format most likely to reduce the gap between the teams.
The International side should be competitive here. A Matsuyama-Conners pairing would have serious potential. Both are excellent ball-strikers and neither one needs to play reckless golf to create chances. Adam Scott and Si Woo Kim could also make a solid alternate-shot partnership because they have the all-around games and temperament to grind through a difficult match.
The U.S. should still win the overall Cup, but the better betting strategy is to be selective with the U.S. Have a look at single-day markets or wait for live opportunities.
International to win or tie Friday foursomes is the strongest early value angle, and it might be your only shot to make money on the International Team as a whole.
