Odds

Next game odds, playoff outlook, schedule and Super Bowl history.

Atlanta is starting fresh with a proven head coach and an unsettled quarterback. Kevin Stefanski, a two-time Coach of the Year, takes over after being let go in Cleveland, inheriting a roster with talent but a familiar question under center.

Michael Penix Jr. is rehabbing an ACL torn in November and aiming for Week 1, while newcomer Tua Tagovailoa competes for the job. The bright spot is a pass rush that set a franchise record last season. The quarterback picture has to clear up.

Lucky Rebel’s Editor Top Pick

The quarterback competition is the story. Michael Penix Jr., the 2024 first-round pick, is working back from a season-ending knee injury, and Tua Tagovailoa arrived to push him. Stefanski is a respected developer of quarterbacks, which is exactly why he was hired. The defense, fronted by a record-setting pass rush, can keep games close. Where Atlanta finishes depends on who plays quarterback and how healthy he is.

Falcons to make the playoffs

MarketYesNo
Atlanta Falcons to make the playoffs+280-410

Our call: they miss it. At +280 to make the playoffs and -410 to miss, the market sees a team in transition. A new head coach, a new offensive coordinator and a quarterback competition shadowed by an injury recovery add up to a year of building. The pass rush is real and Stefanski is a steadying hire, but the path to January runs through a quarterback room that has not settled. This looks like a step toward contention, not contention itself.

Kevin Stefanski takes over

Stefanski arrives in Atlanta as a two-time Coach of the Year, hired to bring stability and quarterback development to a franchise that has churned at the position. Matt Ryan, the former Falcons quarterback, runs football operations, and owner Arthur Blank wanted a proven leader. Stefanski is that.

His first task is the quarterback, and he has called himself a maniac about player development. The roster has pieces, particularly on defense. Getting consistent quarterback play is what turns this into a contender, and it is the hardest part of the job.

Tommy Rees, Jeff Ulbrich and the staff

Tommy Rees follows Stefanski from Cleveland as offensive coordinator, tasked with building a system that works for whichever quarterback wins the job. The continuity between head coach and coordinator should ease the installation.

Jeff Ulbrich stays as defensive coordinator after a breakout 2025 in which his unit set a franchise record for sacks, jumping from second-to-last in the league to second overall. Keeping that pass rush intact is the best news of Atlanta’s offseason.

The Falcons playing staff

The quarterback room defines everything. Michael Penix Jr. is the incumbent and the future the franchise hoped for, but his health is uncertain after ACL surgery, and Tua Tagovailoa is a real competitor for the job. Tight end Kyle Pitts, kept on the franchise tag, gives the eventual starter a weapon.

The defense is the strength. The franchise-record pass rush from 2025 returns under Ulbrich, and that group can keep Atlanta in games while the offense finds its footing. The ceiling is tied to the quarterback, and that answer is not in yet.
