Cleveland Browns
Odds
Next game odds, playoff outlook, schedule and Super Bowl history.
Cleveland is starting over on offense and at the top. The Browns fired Kevin Stefanski after a 5-12 season in which they finished last in the NFL in scoring, then hired Todd Monken to fix it. Monken knows the building, having coordinated the offense here in 2019 before strong runs in college and Baltimore.
The quarterback room is the headline. Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders started a combined thirteen games as rookies, and Deshaun Watson is rehabbing an Achilles. Monken has to pick one and build an offense that scores. The young defense gives him something to stand on.
Lucky Rebel’s Editor Top Pick
The quarterback question is the whole story. Monken inherits Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders and a rehabbing Deshaun Watson, and one of them has to turn the league’s worst offense into something functional. There is no easy answer. The bright spot is a young, fast defense fronted by back-to-back Defensive Rookies of the Year. That side can keep games close. The offense has to catch up.

| Cleveland Browns to make the playoffs | +425 | -700 |
Our call: they miss it. At +425 to make the playoffs and -700 to miss, the market sees a team in transition. A new head coach, an unsettled quarterback room and an offense coming off a last-place scoring finish do not add up to January. The defense is genuinely promising, but a Browns season built on rookies and a coaching reset is a year of building, not contending.
Todd Monken takes over
Monken returns to Cleveland as head coach after three seasons coordinating Baltimore’s offense, where he helped Lamar Jackson to an MVP. He won two national titles at Georgia and ran the Browns’ offense in 2019. General manager Andrew Berry, who drafted the rookie quarterbacks, kept his job and led the search.
The mandate is clear: build an offense that scores after two years at the bottom of the league. Monken is a play-caller and a developer, which is exactly the profile a roster this young needs.
Travis Switzer, Mike Rutenberg and a new staff
Travis Switzer takes over as offensive coordinator after nine seasons with the Ravens, the last three as run game coordinator for the most productive ground attack in football. The plan is to lean on the run while a young quarterback finds his feet.
Mike Rutenberg is the new defensive coordinator, replacing Jim Schwartz in his first turn running a unit. Both coordinators are first-timers, a deliberate bet by Monken and Berry on teaching and development over big names.
The Browns playing staff
The defense is the foundation. Cleveland rosters the Defensive Rookies of the Year from each of the last two seasons in Jared Verse and Carson Schwesinger, a young, fast core to build around. That side can keep the Browns in games while the offense sorts itself out.
On offense, the questions outnumber the answers. The quarterback competition will define the season, and the supporting cast has to prove it can move the ball after finishing last in scoring. This is a rebuild, and 2026 is about finding out who the quarterback is.
